“Hi’ my name is Cliff”
I’m a self taught artist living in the wonderful historic Town of Berwick upon Tweed in the North of England.
I’ve always shown a keen interest in art.
As a boy, I remember sitting in the garden, drawing and painting little masterpieces for my Mum.
Art was always my favourite subject at school, excelling A-level art with confidence.
After leaving school, I began working as an apprentice butcher. During this time, I met my wife, and we eventually married and started a family together. Art had now been forgotten!
Only in 2016 when I was 41, I found I still had the knack. While working in Bamburgh, I had the urge to paint the beautiful Bamburgh Castle. I began by using watercolours, then moved on to acrylics which I preferred.
Eventually, I experimented with oils, those I thoroughly enjoyed. I have also dabbled in soft pastels and more recently charcoal.
To this day I still prefer to use oils for most of my work but I do like to use acrylic's now and then for their benefit of their fast drying!
I started my art page on Facebook, not only did I grow likes and followers but I managed to gain confidence to improve my work too. Nothing more grows your confidence than when people like your work and even want to buy it!
I’ve painted different subjects over the years but going with my heart I love landscape.
Thank you for reading!
