“Hi’ my name's Cliff”

I’m a self-taught artist living in the charming historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north of England.
I’ve always had a strong passion for art.
When I was about six years old, I remember sitting in the garden, happily drawing and painting little masterpieces like the garden shed or some flowers.
Art was always my favourite subject at school. I remember always getting roped into doing the scenery for the school play.
After finishing school, I started working as an apprentice butcher. During that time, I met my wife, we got married and began our family.
​Art was soon left behind!

Back in 2016, when I was 41, I found myself wondering if I was still any good at art.  So while working in Bamburgh, I felt an irresistible urge to paint the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. I started with watercolours, then moved on to acrylics. Eventually, I tried oils, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and to this day I prefer using them for most of my work. Still, I use acrylics now and then for the advantage of their quick drying time.
I started my art page on Facebook, and not only did I gain more likes and followers, but I also built the confidence to keep improving my work. Nothing boosts your confidence more than people appreciating your art and even wanting to buy it! Over the years, I’ve painted a variety of subjects.
